• “Everything a Bed & Breakfast should be.”

Built in 1892 for Enoch Heber Maidment,
a local cobbler, our house served as
shoe-making shop and family home to
the Maidments, and later, the Ivany family.
After a loving, three-year restoration, Karen
and Eric opened Maidment House Bed & Breakfast.
A third-generation carpenter, Eric has preserved
the traditional architecture that makes Trinity
special. Maidment House offers old-world ambience
and modern comforts.

our rooms

Take a look at our unique accommodations.

Our rooms feature quality beds, firm mattresses, homemade quilts and 100% pressed cotton linens for a good night’s sleep. Bedrooms are furnished with locally-made furniture and antiques. We use eco-friendly cleaning and make our own soaps. Feel free to be at home in the living quarters, enjoy plenty of reading material, play board games or watch local film productions on the living room television.

Rooms may be available year-round, with advance reservation. Two night minimum stay is generally required for advance bookings.

Our rates include a gourmet breakfast for two, but do not include taxes (H.S.T. 15%). We charge $25 for an additional guest. We deduct $10 from the room rate for a single guest. Save 5% on bookings of three or more nights. Note: discounted rates for multiple night stays apply only to bookings where guests reserve the same room for the duration of their stay.

Off-peak rates are in effect from October 9, 2017 (Thanksgiving Monday) through May 17, 2018 (Thursday before the May long weekend) and are as follows: $139 for a single night stay; $129 when staying two or more nights.

2018 Rates: $175 per night.

We provide guests with our own homemade soaps. Please visit the Nish Soaps Facebook page for more information.

our food

Eat well. Be well.

Our rates include a gourmet breakfast, which we serve at a collective table in our dining room. We gladly accommodate special requests, including gluten-free and vegetarian diets. Our breakfasts always include fresh fruit, often served with our homemade granola and organic yogourt, locally-roasted coffee, a hot entree, and sometimes freshly baked muffins or Eric's mom's famous Newfoundland "raisin buns". Some of our favourite recipes include eggs benny on rosti potato; wild blueberry pancakes (we pick the berries ourselves); cherry-cheese blintzes with homemade rosehip syrup; asparagus and mushroom strata; frittata du jour; french toast with ricotta, pecans and a rooibos tea syrup. No matter what we serve it's hearty and healthy and will set you up for a busy and active day.

Explore Trinity

While Trinity offers beautiful architecture, a perfect place for an end-of-day stroll, and a wonderful place to relax with a stack of books, a bottle of wine, a pot of tea, or good company, the natural wonders and tourist sights have a season. If you come in June, you’ll see wild lupins in the millions. In late August or September you’ll find wild blueberries growing trailside. The whales follow the capelin. Time your trip according to what you want to see, or, if you prefer to travel as the wind blows you, travel before mid-June or after Labour Day, when accommodations are more open.
